Vale Laurie Moraschi
Country Rugby League is mourning the passing of former Country Player of the Year Laurie Moraschi.
A former Balmain Tigers, North Sydney and NSW Representative, Mr Moraschi was the recipient of the first-ever NSW Country Player of the Year whilst playing for Griffith in 1965.
Mr Moraschi joined Balmain in 1966 and played alongside some of Rugby League’s finest in Arthur Beetson and Keith Barnes and was coached by Harry Bath.
CRL CEO Terry Quinn said Mr Moraschi will always be remembered by the wider Rugby League community.
“Mr Moraschi holds a special place in CRL history as the first ever recipient of the Country Player of the Year Award and we send our sincere condolences to his family and friends.”
Moraschi played 32 first grade game for Balmain and another 36 first-grade games for North Sydney between 1966-72.
