The Canberra Raiders have continued to reinforce their commitment to regional rugby league, as they hosted over 120 regional representative players at Raiders HQ on Sunday.

The players arrived in the form of the under 16 and under 18 CRL Country Championship squads from the Riverina and Monaro regions, as part of a weekend camp at the nearby Australian Institute of Sport.

The players were put through their paces in the Raiders HQ gym on Sunday morning, to better learn the skills and techniques to help them return to their regional homes and best prepare for the next phase of their careers.

The teams also had the opportunity to hear from Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart on the importance of their development as they look to progress their careers.

Sunday’s training session is just one of several ways the Raiders and CRL have continued to work together on to give regional based players the best opportunity to develop into possible NRL players, with a number of initiatives in place to make sure regional areas of NSW are better serviced to ensure the continued progression of junior talent.

Raiders NRL Recruitment and High-Performance Manager Peter Mulholland said the club’s partnership with the CRL allowed the Raiders to assist in the development of regionally based players to best fulfill their potential.
