NRRRL Media Release – Northern United stood down for 2017

The Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League Board, after consultation with Country Rugby League, hereby advises that the Northern United SRL Club has been stood down from competing in any / all competitions in the 2017 season.

This decision has been made after the failure of the Northern United SRL Club to adhere to and implement the required fiscal management practices, which were agreed upon and documented at numerous financial meetings.

These meetings had been conducted and supported by both the NRRRL and CRL to assist the Northern United SRL Club understand and rectify its financial responsibilities and thus be compliant with CRL Constitutional requirements for club entry into the NRRRL Competition.

The NRRRL and CRL are prepared to assist the club in rectifying their current financial obligations with both local suppliers and other organisations during the 2017 season.

Then and only then, will both governing bodies be prepared to commence preparations for the clubs re-entry into the NRRRL competition in 2018.
