Excitement Building for Central Hunter Women’s Grand Final Day

Updated: July 10, 2018

Waratah Oval will host a celebration of Women’s Rugby League this Saturday, with the Grand Finals of the CRL Central Hunter Combined Women’s Competition taking place; along with guest appearances from NSW Women’s State of Origin players.

After a successful season which featured over 500 players and 34 teams; Grand Final Day will see seven clubs represented; with West Newcastle, Thornton-Beresfield, Kurri Kurri, South Lakes, Berkeley Vale, Maitland United and Wyong fielding sides across four age divisions – with free admission for all supporters.

After featuring in the NSW Blues historic win in the inaugural Women’s State of Origin; Blues stars Isabelle Kelly, Hannah Southwell and Rebecca Young will present trophies throughout the day, with a number of players from the CRL Women’s National Championship winning team and Newcastle Knights Tarsha Gale side also in attendance.

CRL Female Participation Officer Kylie Hilder believes the day will be a celebration of the success of the competitions inaugural season.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support and optimism from everyone involved in this competition throughout the year and we’re extremely proud to be providing new opportunities for female players in the Central Coast and Hunter Regions,” said Hilder.

“Grand Final Day is going to be a celebration of the competitions inaugural season and it’s a great opportunity for fans to come and meet some our Women’s Origin, National Championship and Tarsha Gale stars.

“It’s free admission for anyone wanting to come and support the girls and we’ll also have jumping castles and face painting for the kids, so we’d love to see a big crowd on hand throughout the day.”

CRL Central Hunter Combined Women’s Competition Grand Final Day takes place on Saturday, 14th July at Waratah Oval, Waratah, with matches kicking-off from 9:00am.
