The next generation of Central Coast talent will have the opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced Rugby League minds in the region; with four new coaches named for the Central Coast Roosters Representative Pathway sides for 2019.

Former NRL players Paul Stringer and Adam McEwen will coach the Roosters Harold Matthews (Under-16’s) and SG Ball (Under-18’s) sides which compete in the NSWRL Junior Representative Competitions; with Wyong Roos Intrust Super Premiership Captain Mitch Williams and former Central Coast Under-23’s Coach Matthew Hunter to take charge of the CRL Andrew Johns (Under- 16’s) and Laurie Daley (Under-18’s) Cup Junior Representative sides.

Central Coast Roosters Operations Manager Terry Rule believes the combined experience of the new Coaches will be an asset for players in the Central Coast Roosters pathway.

“The new coaches will form a vital part of the Central Coast Roosters pathway and are well placed, through their experience, to assist with the development of our next generation of talent,” said Rule.

“We’re very fortunate to have coaches who have achieved at NRL, State Cup and Junior Representative level on board with us and I’m sure they will embrace their new roles in 2019.

“It’s great to have the Sydney Roosters committed to the Central Coast for the long term and we’ll soon see, in conjunction with CRL, the upgrading our high performance facilities and programs to give our players the best opportunity to fulfil their potential.”

All newly appointed coaches have long-standing connections with the Central Coast with Stringer, McEwen and Hunter all having coached and/or played locally, along with previous roles as coaches for Central Coast Representative teams; whilst Williams has a long association with the Wyong Roos as current Captain of the Intrust Super Premiership side, along with being a former NSW Cup Player of the Year.

The Central Coast Roosters would like to thank Mark O’Meley, Shane Whitton, Matt Sharman and Mick Martin for their years of service and contribution to the Central Coast Roosters and for their efforts in developing junior talent throughout the region.
