The Tooheys Newcastle & Hunter Community Rugby League reaches its crescendo this weekend with nine Grand Finals to be contested across two venues.

It has been a huge year for the league with 38 clubs, providing 40 mens teams, 18 Ladies League Tag and 6 Womens Tackle teams, competing across 9 grades as well as breaking through the magic 2,000 participant barrier for the first time.

“This League and these competitions aim to galvanise and invigorate local communities,”  said NHCRL Administrator Dave Wild.

We’re extremely happy with our continued participation growth in 2019 and with the introduction of Mixed Over 35s League Tag in 2020, we continue to enhance social inclusion at all levels.

This weekend is very exciting, some enthralling clashes are expected, and there are serious bragging rights at stake between the eastern and western sides of Lake Macquarie in the Belmont Souths v Dora Creek match and we also have next door neighbours Dungog and Stroud going up against each other in Mens and Womens competitions – that will be big!”
