2016 AAMI Country Championship Finals
The AAMI Senior Country Championship Finals will kick-off this weekend with three games taking place at Collegians Sports Centre on Saturday, 4th June.
After impressive victories over their opponents in the Semi-Finals, Illawarra and Newcastle will face-off in the Tier One Final, with Illawarra aiming for their fourth straight title and an incredible 10th in 12 years.
Illawarra showed no signs of rust in their 30-6 victory over the Central Coast, but will have their work cut out for them facing a Newcastle side who scored a convincing 28-6 victory over last year’s finalists Canberra.
Riverina will be aiming for back-to-back Tier Two titles when they take on the Greater Southern Stars in the Tier Two Final after a strong 22-8 victory over the NRRRL.
Despite missing several players from their previous match, the Greater Southern Stars were equally impressive in defeating the Greater Northern Tigers 38-16.
The East Coast Dolphins and Central Coast will feature in the inaugural Ladies League Tag Country Championship Final after taking out their respective Semi-Final matches.
The Central Coast scored a gripping last minute 14-11 win over the Greater Northern Tigers to book their place in the final, with the Dolphins defeating the Greater Southern Stars 18-10.
This year’s AAMI Country Championship Finals can be enjoyed by Rugby League fans across the country as all matches will be Live Streamed via BarTV Sports and crlnsw.com.au from 11am on Saturday.
